THE VENGE

Aero is Everything

During the development of a 99.2% efficient drivetrain, aerodynamic efficiency was always in the back of our mind, but speculation means nothing without quantitative testing. In collaboration with Specialized, we took the most aerodynamic road bike in the world—the Specialized S-Works Venge—and we outfitted it with our chainless Driven drivetrain. Then we put it through its paces in the renowned Specialized Win Tunnel.

The objective was to identify if Driven had aerodynamic advantages over a traditional chain and derailleur drivetrain.

Making the Fastest 3% Faster

The Driven equipped Specialized Venge concept bike showed an aerodynamic improvement over the current day Venge of approximately 3 %, consistently across all yaw angles. According to Ingmar Jungnickel, Aerodynamics R&D Lead at Specialized, the aerodynamic improvements seen with the Driven drivetrain could be as much as 8 seconds over 40km.
